Dua for Relief from Pain

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

A‘ūdhu bikalimātillāhit tāmāti min sharri mā khalaq.

"I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created."

Dua for Patience in Affliction

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي، وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا

Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rāji‘ūn. Allāhumma ajurnī fī muṣībatī, wakhluf lī khayran minhā.

"Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. O Allah, reward me for my affliction and replace it with something better."

"عَجَبًا لأَمْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِ، إِنَّ أَمْرَهُ كُلَّهُ خَيْرٌ، وَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ لأَحَدٍ إِلَّا لِلْمُؤْمِنِ، إِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ سَرَّاءُ شَكَرَ فَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُ، وَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ ضَرَّاءُ صَبَرَ فَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُ."

"‘Ajaban li amril-mu’min, inna amrahu kullahu khayr, wa laysa dhālika li aḥadin illā lil-mu’min: in aṣābathu sarrā’u shakar fa-kāna khayran lahu, wa in aṣābathu ḍarrā’u ṣabar fa-kāna khayran lahu."

"Wondrous is the case of the believer, for there is good for him in everything, and this is not the case with anyone except the believer. If prosperity comes to him, he is thankful and that is a good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he is patient and that is a good for him."
