Duas for Strength and Tranquility

Dua for Anxiety and Sorrow

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazan, wal-'ajzi wal-kasal, wal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa dal'id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijal.

"O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, from helplessness and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, and from the burden of debts and from being overpowered by men."

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

Dua for Ease in Hardship

La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin.

"There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."

(Quran, Surah Al-Anbiya, 21:87)

Hadith on the Sanctity of Life

Man qatala nafsahu bi-hadeedatin fahadeedatuhu fi yadihi, yatawajjau biha fi batnihi fi nari jahannama khalidan mukhlladan fiha abadan.

"Whoever kills himself with a piece of iron will have the iron in his hand, and he will continuously stab himself with it in his abdomen in the Fire of Hell, forever and ever."

(Sahih Muslim)

Hadith on The Vastness of Allah's Mercy

Law anna-bna Adamu farra minar-rizqi kama yafirru minal-mawt, la-adrakahul-rizqu kama yudrikuhul-mawt.

"If the son of Adam were to flee from his sustenance as he flees from death, his sustenance would catch up to him just as death catches up to him." This reminds us that our provisions are guaranteed by Allah, so we should not despair.

(Al-Bazzaar, Al-Haakim)
