The Five Pillars of Islam

Shahada (Faith)

The Shahada is the declaration of faith, stating, "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah." It is the foundation upon which all other pillars are built, affirming the monotheistic nature of Islam and the prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH).

Salat (Prayer)

Salat consists of five daily prayers performed at specific times: Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (midday), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night). This direct communication with Allah strengthens one's faith and provides spiritual nourishment throughout the day.

Zakat (Charity)

Zakat is the compulsory giving of a set proportion of one's wealth (usually 2.5%) to the poor and needy. It purifies the wealth of the giver, combats greed, and ensures that the basic needs of the less fortunate in the community are met.

Sawm (Fasting)

During the holy month of Ramadan, able-bodied Muslims are required to fast from dawn until sunset. This act of self-discipline and spiritual reflection fosters empathy for the hungry and deepens one's connection with Allah.

Hajj (Pilgrimage)

The Hajj is the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which every adult Muslim must undertake at least once in their lifetime if they are physically and financially able. It is a powerful symbol of unity and submission to Allah.
